This past weekend was a flash to me. I attempted to attend a friends wedding in Atlanta but almost everything went wrong. Let me start by saying every night last week, I did not leave the 104 the X studio until around 4 A.M. So I was already tired, couple that with my leaving at 4 A.M. Friday and having to wake up to catch my plane at 5 A.M. I made it to the airport on time and boarded the plane only to sit on it for two hours because we were not cleared to land Atlanta due to wind and snow. They decided to let us off the plane and I walked around the Baton Rouge Airport for another hour and a half until finally I boarded the plane again and took off for Georgia.
I arrived in Atlanta 30 minutes before the wedding. I was told I could take the train but that would take me 45 minutes or I could take a cab that would cost me over $100. I opted for the train. When I got off the train I was stupid to believe that a cab driver would know where things were located. It goes without saying that no cabbies knew where the church was located. So I got them to take me to the hotel and I waited. Finally, I met up with my crew and made it to the reception. I ate some food, had some drink and danced to the song “Apache”. Receptions are the best part of a wedding so at least I made it for the high light.
After the reception, I and my crew hit up a hot wings joint that was more of a club than a restaurant. I remember there being a crappy band and free food at the end of the night. The next morning I awoke, caught the train and got to the airport only to find my flight had been delayed. Eventually, I got on the plane and made it to Baton Rouge, but that is not where it ends. Right as I said to myself, “Finally, I am home. Nothing else can go wrong.” I noticed that my luggage did not arrive. So I went home with no bags. To my surprise my apartment had not burned down because with my luck, I figured it would.
So I spent a grand total of 25 hours in Atlanta this past weekend. Next out of town wedding I go to, I will leave 2 days early, not pack, spend no time in the city or town and expect free food.
