This weekend was all about the Mardi Gras parades. I woke up bright and early on Saturday to prepare for The Krewe of Mystique parade. I admit that before the parade, I was griping because I thought there would be a poor attendance in the cold, wet weather, but to my surprise the attendance was great and a lot of 104 the X fans came out and represented with posters and signs. By the evening I was accustomed to the weather and went all out for The Krewe of Orion parade. I would like to thank everyone who came out and represented for The X, you made the parades great and the pictures are up on the website under X-pics.
Sunday night I ate at Chili’s for a friend’s birthday. I have not eaten at Chili’s in about 2 years and when I got my food, I remembered why I had not been there in so long. The food looked like it had been cooked about 4 days earlier and had just been sitting out somewhere. It tasted even better. Maybe I just caught that particular Chili’s at a bad time but it will probably be another long while until I eat there again.
After dinner I went home to watch “Rock of Love II” staring Poison lead singer Bret Michaels. For those that do not know about the show, it is basically a household of trashy women competing to date Michaels. Those women have had a lot of work done but the most popular “enhancement” on the women is not the boobs like you would suspect but almost all of them have huge lips. They must have had those injections. There is nothing like a woman who has an upper lip twice the size of her lower one.
Finally, I listened to the new Mars Volta album “Bedlam in Goliath”. Maybe I live a crazy, fast paced life or maybe there is just always 50 different things going off in my head at once, but I like the Mars Volta. The music is busy and has a lot going on at once, but it works for me. This album is a little more commercial friendly than some of their previous ones. Some songs are as short as 4 minutes and that is an accomplishment for a band that has had 17 minute long songs in the past. There motivation for the album was a cursed weegie board that brought them so much bad luck that they had to bury it to reverse the curse, no lie. So if you want some progressive rock that is busy music in your life, check out “Bedlam in Goliath”
