Last week, I decided to do some apartment shopping. The first two places I checked out were nice but were extremely expensive, so I decided to look at something in the lower price range. I headed to Carlotta Street. Now, I have always liked the places on Carlotta because they have a lot of character and are in a good location. One of the places I looked at was ok, not too dirty and cozy enough, but when I got into my car I noticed that there were fleas on my pants. Not like, “Oh, there are fleas on me,” no, more like, “Holy F#&%, there are fleas all over me!” It took me a good 20 minutes to get most of them off me. Needless to say, I do not want to pay a lot for an apartment but the other alternative of possibly waking up one morning to find that fleas have eaten my legs is far less attractive.
The past week did have some highlights, though. The Krewe of Jupiter parade rolled this Saturday in downtown Baton Rouge. As always we suggest that fans make 104 the X signs and in return we will hook them up with some 104 the X party cups. I would like to thank everyone that made signs, not only did I see a record number of them, they were also some of the best looking ones I have ever seen. As for the other people out there that did not know what was going on when The Fish and I ran around screaming and shouting, my apologies but they should be locked into 104 the X more often.
After the parade The Fish and I had a pizza party at a local pizza place. You got to have pizza after a parade to soothe the soul. I saw two guys almost get in a fight, but right when I thought it was going down, I realized they were just joking so I was a little bummed. I also saw a worker carry a guy out for being loud and while being carried out he hit his head on the exit sign. Luckily, we were not kicked out for any of our shenanigans.
Today proved interesting for me. The dome light in my car has been out for months now and I decided today was the day to fix it. I never knew how complicated it is to fix one of those things but it can get thick. After about 10 minutes of fighting with the bulb, I realized that I had a problem with the connection between the light switch and the light. When I took it apart, springs started popping out and ball Barings fell to the ground. To keep the connection, I had to jam a dime between the switch and plastic cover of the light. Finally, after working things out I realized that I bought a light that changes colors, so every time I open my door it is going to look like Studio 54 inside my car.
To top off my day, I almost burned off my fingers. Let me preface this with, I do not cook and do not know how to cook, so I usually eat pretty simple stuff. Well, there was a pot on my stove and I wanted to see what was in it, so I grabbed the glass lid and burnt my fingers pretty bad. I am just not used to hot pots. Now my fingers have huge blisters on them and are starting to look deformed. Never lift up a pot lid without protective gloves, lesson learned.
