Last week my roommate got engaged. Yes, another one bites the dust. The thing is that I am renting my room for him, so come February I will be homeless. If anyone has an empty mother-in-law apartment, room, garage or just an extra bed, let me know.
Saturday, I had a run-in with the law. I fell asleep on my couch watching football then around 1 A.M., I decided to go and visit someone. I was driving in a residential area and a white car passed me. As it passed I noticed it was a sheriff’s patrol unit and it turned on its siren lights. I thought that the car could not be coming after me because the officer did not turn his lights on until after he passed me. Man, was I wrong. So I get out and the sheriff’s officer tells me I was speeding, strike one. Then he asks me for my license. While leaving my place in a half asleep state, I forgot to grab my wallet so I had no form of I.D., strike two. Then he asks for my proof of insurance. I know I have that, so I get it and show it to him. He looks at me and asks why I look nervous. I replied, “Because I just got pulled over by an officer of the law.” He then asks, “Am I beating you?” Now I am lost, I replied, “What?” He repeated his question and I just continued to look lost. He wrote me the ticket then when he handed it to me he continued to make jokes. At this point there was no reason to be nice anymore because I had already gotten the ticket, so I told him that I did not find him funny at all. He was a little embarrassed and sent me on my way.
The funny thing was that I had a book sack sitting on my passenger seat and it was Saturday night, but not once did he ask if I had been drinking or if he could search the car. Good thing I was not a huge drug gun dealer or intoxicated. I guess he was just too focused on writing that ticket.
